Colic is one of the most common and serious emergencies in equine medicine. It represents a collective term for a variety of often very painful abdominal conditions, ranging from mild to life-threatening.

Pferdeklinik Bargteheide provides a 24-hour emergency care for hospitalised colic patients. We offer comprehensive clinical examinations and advanced diagnostic procedures, including laboratory testing, ultrasound of the abdomen, and gastroscopy.

Based on these findings, each horse receives an individually tailored treatment plan. Continuous monitoring by our experienced team allows treatment to be adjusted at any time according the horse´s current condition and needs.

The primary aim of the treatment is rapid stabilisation of the horse's condition through medical therapy, intravenous fluid administration, and, where indicated, nasogastric intubation.
